Missions

Hopewell Missions

We at Hopewell Baptist Church strive to fulfill the expectation of our Lord Jesus. Just before ascending from earth, He said, (Acts 1:8) “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

In applying Acts 1:8, we strive to have a vibrant local missions ministry while also being faithful to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
11.5% of the offerings go directly toward mission endeavors. We support the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention and in addition, we give to our local association, the Shiloh Baptist Association. We also have a direct partnership with the following entities:

The Fellowship Network of Churches (North American Mission Board churches)

In 2018, Hopewell began a partnership with North American Mission Board church planter, Matt Hess. Matt is serving in Toronto, Canada. Since his arrival there, Matt has planted four churches while pastoring Fellowship Pickering (the first church plant). Each of the churches work with one another and each is responsible to plant more churches. Matt’s vision is to plant 20 churches in 20 years. Hopewell has taken multiple mission trips to aid in this ministry and supports the network financially through our church budget.

Ambassadors for Truth

In 2014 Hopewell Baptist Church commissioned Eric Carpenter and family to serve the Lord in Nepal. Eric, a PhD with a heart for training pastors, went to serve as the Dean of Students at the Himalayan Graduate School of Theology. During his time there, he was also offered professor positions at numerous institutions of higher education and traveled to the rural areas of Nepal to train indigenous pastors. Mandy served as Children’s Director at a local church and has also discipled many women. Hopewell took multiple mission trips to aid in the ministry in Nepal. In 2019, the Carpenter family returned to the states but continue to receive financial support to continue training pastors around the world. Volunteer Baptists International

Volunteer Baptists International, formerly E3 Volunteers, is a mission ministry that exists to equip churches to engage in global Gospel activity. In 2019, God brought David Singleton to Hopewell Baptist Church. David is the Director of Mobilization: Equipping and Engaging (USA) for V.B.I. . In 2020, Hopewell began an official partnership with Volunteer Baptists International. Currently the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board is partnering with V.B.I. to send Tennessee Baptists to Guatemala.

The Association of Baptist Churches in Israel

The Association consists of 16 Baptist Churches and the Nazareth Evangelical College. In 2020, Hopewell began financially supporting the college, along with two local churches. In addition, Hopewell voted to provide aid to all the churches of the association. This partnership began after our former senior pastor went to Israel in November 2019.

Igor Novikov (Ukraine)

Igor’s church was suffering persecution and the government was forcing them to purchase their place of worship or no longer meet. They had till the end of 2019 to purchase the place of worship. Hopewell gave over $10,000 in 2019 to purchase the church building in Crimea.

We, at Hopewell, delight in partnering with others to advance the Kingdom of God! We invite you to join with us in this endeavor.
